Getting Started¶
Unpacking the Module¶
Both the AL-3010 board and the AL-3011 board ships in an antistatic box to prevent Electrostatic Discharge (ESD). ESD can damage the device components. Users should be familiar with the steps to prevent ESD damage when handling the device.
Warning
Never touch the exposed pins of the connectors.
While conditions vary from site to site, some general best practices for handling the device include:
Ensuring that you have grounded yourself before handling the module. Use a grounding strap or touch a grounded object.
Touch the antistatic package to a grounded metal part before removing the device from the package.
Remove the device from the package and inspect it for damages such as loose components. Contact ALIARO if the device appears damaged in any way. Do not use a damaged device with any other components. Store the device in antistatic protection when not in use.
Hardware Setup¶
The AL-3010 card has two (2) expansion slots for add-on boards for adding additional functionality for enabling more flexibility in the system.
See the installation instructions for your add-on board if applicable.
The AL-3011 card does not have any expansion slots like AL-3010, the two slots are occupied by add-on boards that enable the extended range compared with the AL-3010.
For detailed instructions on how to install your SLSC module and accessories, refer to the SLSC-12001 Getting Started Guide.
Software Installation¶
Both the AL-3010 and AL-3011 uses the NI SLSC driver for communication. Please refer to the NI-SLSC product page for details on how to download and install support for NI-SLSC.
In addition to NI-SLSC support, ALIARO offers solutions for integrating the AL-3010 and the AL-3011 into a variety of software environments to provide high-level abstractions for common use cases. Supported environments include:
LabVIEW 2021 and later
NI VeriStand 2021 and later
Python 3.6 and later
